Man’s Search For Meaning
Viktor E. Frankl
The author, a Viennese psychologist, was a Holocaust concentration camp survivor whose whole family had been victims of Nazi death camps during WWII.
The central question to existentialism: To live is to suffer. To survive is to find meaning in that suffering.
It’s the goal of each man to find out the purpose of their life and no other man can tell that man the prescription.
Once the man finds his “Why” in life, he can bear almost any “How.”
Don’t aim at success, for the more you aim at it the more you’ll miss it. For example, the author had the goal of simply publishing a book and didn’t care if it became a bestseller. Once he simply published the book, it became a best seller.
To quote Nietzsche, that which does not kill me makes me stronger.
Asking what the meaning of life is as pointless as asking a Chessmaster what’s the best chess move in the world.
