A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life
Brian Grazer
Throughout history, curiosity was prohibited. To maintain status quo, books like the Bible were written: the Bible says, “the tree of truth and knowledge was forbidden.” In the Bible, kings ruled serfs.
Those in power say, “Don’t question authority.”
But,
Curiosity is the key to freedom.
Curiosity embodies 2 Things:
Business was all about conversation. Hollywood is all about ideas, new ideas, pure creativity. Curiosity is how to create those ideas. Curiosity conversations led to Grazer’s connections and movie production career.
The key to Grazer’s style of leadership is asking people questions and let them do the talking. He lets them run the conversation.
Disruptive curiosity – emulated by Sam Walton, Steve Jobs, and the customer experience groups at Proctor & Gamble means to seek out what your competition or customers are doing that is successful.
Sam Walton had Saturday morning meetings – “what is our competition doing that is successful?”
